Business Description
The Center for Internet Security (CIS) is a non-profit enterprise whose mission is to help organizations reduce the risk of business and e-commerce disruptions resulting from inadequate technical security controls. Click Here to learn more about CIS's mission. CIS members develop and encourage the widespread use of security configuration benchmarks through a global consensus process involving participants from the public and private sectors. The practical CIS Benchmarks support available high level standards that deal with the "Why, Who, When, and Where" aspects of IT security by detailing "How" to secure an ever widening array of workstations, servers, network devices, and software applications in terms of technology specific controls. CIS Scoring Tools analyze and report system compliance with the technical control settings in the Benchmarks.
Product Description
US-CERT has entered into a license agreement with CIS for distribution of the Security Configuration Benchmarks and Scoring Tools developed by the members of The Center for Internet Security (CIS). The license enables all U.S. Federal, state, and local governmental agencies to download the Benchmarks and Scoring Tools from this web site, and distribute them within the confines of U.S. Federal, state, and local government agencies and departments, in accordance with the terms of use below. The license and terms of use also pertain to authorized federal government contractors and subcontractors, for use and distribution of the Benchmarks and Scoring Tools in conjunction with their specific contractual requirements to complete assigned federal government tasks. This license agreement is a joint effort of the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, the Department of Defense, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and the National Security Agency.
